Beyond September 19 - Responding to Migrants in Crisis

The United States Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and  the International Organization for Migration organized a side event in the framework of the 19 September Summit on Refugees and Migrants. The first part of the panel was dedicated to the MICIC initiative, followed by a discussion on addressing Human Trafficking in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations.

Panelists discussed how the MICIC Initiative process, and the resulting Guidelines, can serve as a model for governments to move forward with similar commitments made at the September 19 High Level Meeting on Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants. The discussion were be led by U.S. Assistant Secretary for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard and Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the United Nations, H.E. Ms. Lourdes Ortiz Yparraguirre.
