The WIDER Development Conference about ongoing, unexpected, and future crises took place in Helsinki on 23-24 September 2016.

Panelists discussed how the MICIC Initiative process and its Guidelines, can serve as a model to move forward with similar commitments made at the September 19 High Level Summit on Refugees and Migrants.

The Guidelines To Protect Migrants in Countries Experiencing Conflict or Natural Disaster were released on June 10 and launched in New York at UN Headquarters on June 15 and in Geneva at the Palais des Nations on June 27.

The Governments of the Philippines and the United States of America organized a briefing on the MICIC Initiative for Permanent Missions and International Organizations in Geneva.

There are more migrants on the move today than ever before. On Thursday, 25 February 2016, the MICIC Initiative hosted a global webinar on integrating migrants in Disaster Risk Reduction.

This webinar focused on the role civil society plays in assisting and protecting migrants.
