The international organizations consultation was the third stakeholder consultation organized as part of the Migrants in Countries in Crisis (MICIC) Initiative. It was held in Geneva, Switzerland on 16 and 17 March 2016, organized by the the Philippines, and the United States.
The consultation brought together more than 70 representatives from international organizations, including participants from organizations which are members of the Global Migration Group (GMG) and the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC), as well as other key intergovernmental organizations and development banks. Throughout two days of intensive discussions, participants identified concrete practices and recommendations for supporting migrants caught in countries in crisis, concentrating on four key topics: (1) Identifying vulnerable migrants and addressing their needs; (2) Communicating with and about migrants, (3) Integrating migrants into humanitarian and development frameworks; and (4) Financial mechanisms and services available to migrants.
