Location
M'bour Prefecture, Senegal
A simulation exercise tested Senegal’s response to protecting migrants during natural disasters this week.
The scenario was a large, mixed group of migrants, both residents and tourists, facing a major flood (typical of the area’s geographic and population characteristics). The exercise included headquarters coordination, a crisis field site and a relocation site. The Embassies of nearby countries Burkina Faso and Liberia participated as observers.
The exercise was organised by IOM and the Government of Senegal, supported by the IOM-PRM Africa Regional Migration Program.
